On May 23, 2025, Secretary Collins and Secretary Hegseth signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance collaboration between the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Department of Defense (DoD). The primary goal is to ensure that service members transitioning to civilian life receive comprehensive support, particularly in accessing health care and benefits.

“Together, DoD and VA will take the bold steps needed to provide the leading, high-quality, and accessible healthcare, services, and benefits that our Service members require to succeed in and out of uniform.”
